Conference discusses crisis in humanities

KATHMANDU: The 35th annual international conference of the Literary Association of Nepal has been concluded in Kathmandu on Wednesday. The two-day conference held at Padma Kanya Campus discussed the crisis in humanities in the modern world. Scholars from Nepal and abroad had presented their papers on various topics related to the theme. Participants were divided into three groups where they expressed their ideas on the topic, according to LAN General Secretary Khum Prasad Sharma. Similarly, the conference also held a panel discussion with renowned academicians including Arun Gupto and conducted a workshop on the Promotion of Humanities Education where they discussed reasons behind the crisis and its solution. The workshop was moderated by Hriseekesh Upadhyay and presided over by Shreedhar Gautam, chairman of the organisation. The conference concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Literary Association of Nepal and South Asian English Language and Literature Teachers’ Association.
