Damauli, March 9 The number of people committing suicide has suddenly increased in the last few days in Tanahun district. According to District Police Office, Tanahun, as many as five persons committed suicide in the district in the past three days. Bal Bahadur Nepali, 57, of Ghasikunwa and Ramesh Thapa, 18, of Keshavtar hanged themselves on March 6. Similarly, Yamuna Gurung, 25, of Kyamin, hanged herself on March 8. Likewise, Rima Swara Thapa, 24, of Rising Ranipokhari and Lila Shrestha, 23, of the same VDC, committed suicide today. Inspector Bijayaraj Pandit, of Crime Investigation Department at the DPO, said most of the women committed suicide following depression, whereas their male counterparts did it due to poverty.
