Journos receive Gender Responsive Journalism awards

Lalitpur, March 14 UN Women and Media Advocacy Group today awarded gender responsive media awards to Saindra Rai from Kathmandu and Manoj Paudel from Kapilbastu. Minister for Information and Communication Technology Sher Dhan Rai handed over the awards to Rai and Paudel at a programme organised here today. Rai, a reporter from Himal Khabar Patrika was awarded for his field reporting titled Garikhane lai jhanai sasti published on December 20, 2015 while Paudel was awarded for his photo published in Kantipur daily on September 21, 2015. According to MAG, the awardee for gender responsive reporting were selected by a jury of Mahendra Bista, president of Federation of Nepali Journalists along with senior journalists Prakash Rimal, Dev Prakash Tripathi and Babita Basnet. Similarly, the jury for selection of the awardee for best gender responsive photo included Rajbhai Suwal, president of National Forum of Photo Journalists, Anita Bindu, vice president of FNJ and photo journalists Bikash Rauniyar. Each awardee received Rs 25,000 and a letter of appreciation.
