Seven Nepali women rescued from Saudi Arabia

SAUDI ARABIA: Seven Nepali women working as domestic helpers have been rescued from Saudi Arabia. The stranded women, who entered Saudi Arabia via Kuwait from the nexus of the brokers, were rescued with the initiative of Embassy of Nepal, Riyadh. The women were taking shelter in the Embassy of Nepal in Riyadh after being oppressed and tortured from their employers. Earlier, they had fled from the houses of their employers after not getting wages for months and to avoid physical and mental abuses from their bosses. Chargé d'affaires at the Embassy of Saudi Arabia Ananda Prasad Sharma said that the women were rescued and sent back home on Friday by making travel documents and meeting all the legal processes with support from the officials of Immigration Department of Saudi Arabia. Sharma said that Rita Devi Magar from Dandabari-3 in Jhapa, Jhabi Rana from Kharbang-7 in Baglung, Mina BK of Gulariya-7 in Bardiya, Mayadevi Rajdhami of Babiyabirta-7 in Morang, Jamuna Roka of Okharbot-9 in Pyuthan, Parbati Thapa of Triveni-2 in Nawalparasi and Janaki Lama of Bethan-5 in Ramechhap district were rescued and sent back home. It has been learned that the women were kept in Kuwait for some time as domestic help and then were taken in Saudi Arabia in tourist visa.
