KATHMANDU: Prince Harry, who arrived in Kathmandu on a five-day official visit on Saturday, paid a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Sheetal Niwas on Sunday morning. During the meeting, Prince Harry told President Bhandari that he was delighted to be in Nepal and was looking forward to open the Girls Summit later in week, according to the Kensington Palace. He praised the dedication, honesty and valour of the British Gurkhas. The British Prince further said during his Nepal visit, he had an opportunity to directly feel that Nepalis never stop smiling even in hard times that was either invited by the earthquake or severe fuel shortage. The smiling faces of Nepalis in the aftermath of earthquake reflect that the trait of valiance inherited by Gurkhalis even during the crisis rests on among them, he said. In response, the President said that it was a matter of happiness for the entire state that it got an opportunity to welcome the prince of its old but good friend. The President thanked the British Government for its meaningful support to the country in the post-earthquake rescue and reconstruction efforts. After holding meeting with President Bhandari, he left for Patan to meet those affected by two devastating earthquakes which struck Nepal in April and May 2015, to learn about efforts being made to restore buildings of historic significance and to assist disaster preparedness.
