KATHMANDU: The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division has developed a special traffic management plan to maintain road safety during the Holi festival, to be celebrated coming Tuesday. At a press meet here today, the Division Chief, DIG Prakash Aryal, said the plan comprises surveillance against drunk driving, over-speeding vehicles, overloaded vehicles and vehicles used for forcibly throwing colours and lolas (water-filled balloons) on pedestrians and steps to be taken to maintain traffic discipline during the festival. The plan will be implemented in all three districts in the Kathmandu Valley. Traffic check points will be established at 53 locations in the Valley from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on the day of Holi festival. Anyone found violating the traffic rules, generating uproar in the public and throwing lolas to pedestrians will be punished, the Division said.
