Kathmandu, March 21 The United Democratic Madhesi Front has decided not to celebrate Holi, the festival of colours this year, as the Madhes had lost more than five dozen protesters during the Madhes movement. The front, however, extended Holi greetings to the public wishing emancipation from ‘chauvinism, hegemony and devilish attitude.’ General Secretary of Sadbhawana Party Manish Kumar Suman said the front decided not to celebrate Holi keeping in mind the martyrdom of Madhesis in the movement. “We have, however, not asked the public either to celebrate or not celebrate the festival,” he added. The front issued a press release today saying that true nationalism could be strengthened only when all kinds of discrimination were abolished against marginalised people, proportional inclusion and federalism with local autonomy were ensured.
