KATHMANDU: Judges Society Nepal on Monday expressed concern about direct or indirect political pressure on the Supreme Court. Issuing a press statement JSN said the impacts of political pressure were seen in the nomination of SC Justices. “The fact that appointment as member of the Judicial Council is done just on the basis of political loyalty and JC members having aspiration of SC judgeship manoeuver to realise this ambition reflects the politicisation,” the Society said. The JSN also condemned the statements issued with political interest opposing SC verdicts. The Society stated that activities of the Judicial Council, including appointments on the basis of political inclination, appointing active political cadres to judicial positions and ignoring seniority have seriously tarnished the image of the judiciary. The JSN has requested all concerned to stop such activities.
