THT scribe bags Birendra Sah memorial award

Kathmandu, March 30 This daily’s scribe Ram Kumar Kamat bagged this year’s Birendra Sah Memorial Journalism Award. The award, established by Reporters Club, in memory of Bara journalist Sah, carries a purse of Rs 20,000. The award was handed over to Kamat by Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar at a programme organised to mark the 18th anniversary of Reporters Club. Similarly, editor of Nagarik Guna Raj Luitel and  editor of Deshantar Weekly Kabir Rana were jointly awarded Girija Prasad Koirala Memorial award. The award carries a purse of Rs 100,000. The award was handed over to the recipients by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar. Senior journalist of Nepal Television Raju Silwal bagged this year’s  Tarini Prasad Koirala Journalism Award.  Similarly, Tarini Prasad Koirala Memorial Journalism award was jointly given away to deputy editor of Annapurna Post Chudamani Bhattarai and chief news editor of Nepal Television Raju Silwal. The award carries a purse of Rs 50,000. Luitel and Bhattarai gave the award money to charity. This year’s Krishna Sen Ichchhuk Memorial Journalism award went to the editor of Ratopati Online, OM Sharma. The award carries a purse of Rs 25,000. Similarly  Best  Youth Journalism Award, which carries a purse of Rs 20,000 went to Kantipur journalist Basant Basnet. Kathmandu Post journalist Kamal Dev Bhattarai won Excellent Youth Journalism Award. Similarly, Uma Singh Memorial Women Journalist Award went to senior correspondent of Image Channel, Sarswati Karmacharya.
