Kathmandu On the night of April 1 all the noise and excitement seemed to be at the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu. Because almost all the hot and happening people in town were strutting the red carpet at the Blenders Pride -TGIF Nepal Fashion Week 2016. And what a treat, the third day of show started with a bang as the gorgeous Sipora Gurung walked down the ramp looking like a starlet. At the same time Preeti Kaur came into the scene singing A Thousand Year. Then the models walked donning gorgeous outfits mostly in gold dust hues, ornamented in various patterns, sheers and glitters. To end the sequence came the showstopper Namrata Shrestha wearing a fabulous creative gown. With an amazing collection like ‘Red Carpet’, Siwangi Pradhan definitely proved herself to be among the leading faces in fashion. As they say morning shows the day, the next collection was not minus on the glam quotient. Tenyang Yangki’s spring/summer collection included variation of fabulous white outfits in soft fabrics such as georgette, medium weight linen and neoprene. The other eight sequences were no less and all deserve a mention, some for their elegance while the others for their uniqueness. ‘Etoile’, a collection by Ashika Subba and Tshering Sherpa, can best fit in both the categories. The cocktail dresses were embedded with silver and golden rhinestones, making the models look like they had donned twinkling night sky. Upasana Saraff’s ‘Kalighata’ collection of traditional outfits was as beautiful as a painting. Each of her pieces spelled out elegance. Mostly fabrics such as georgette, net and chiffon dominated this collection. The embroidery detailing and patterns were very graceful. Next was the Sunsilk sequence by Sarita Gurung, Min Kumaru Waiba and Shrijana Gurung. Their collection ‘Belle Fluer’ offered freshness with various floral printed fabrics and polychromatic colours and different kinds of shapes. ‘Noir Et-Blanc’ — the collection of Suchina Shrestha, Sangi Gurung and Rabina Gurung injected some elegance and class on the ramp. They showcased some amazing white and black long gowns. Also Ila Shakya, Urjana Shrestha and Geeta Deupala brought a whole lot of creative energy on the stage through their collection ‘La-Mer Bioluminescente’. The knee length dresses differed in terms of silhouettes and had stone embellishment as the main attraction. The collection of Anita Chettri, Caroline Rai and Jamuna Maharjan — ‘Nou Dhu’, an assemble of pastel coloured gowns were also embedded with glitters and rhinestones. Another interesting collection was of Rakshya Shahi, ‘Ethnic fusion’. Combining lehengas with fancy blouse designs and funky jackets, it was a blend of high-end fashion in traditional wear. When things are good, time passes by really quickly and it was already time for the show to come to an end. But, not before the most awaited collection was revealed, designer Tenzin Tseten Bhutia’s ‘L’orange’. Once again he did not fail to impress the audience. Superb innovative designs using sheer and soft fabrics, playing mostly with bright and vibrant shades, this collection definitely filled the appetite of fashion lovers. The fluidity and the flow of the fabric made it stand out of the crowd. Showstopper Samragyee Shah wrapped the night flaunting one of Bhutia’s best creations. Another interesting part was that the models surprised the audience with new moves on the ramp from time to time.
