Last day of Blenders Pride - TGIF Nepal Fashion Week 2016 leaves the audience wanting more Kathmandu All good things must come to an end and so also the biggest fashion extravaganza in the country — Blenders Pride - TGIF Nepal Fashion Week 2016 came to a glittering end with the audience wanting more on April 2 at Hyatt Regency Kathmandu. A complete and uninterrupted creative flow is what the Fashion Week 2016 had to offer, which made the finale precious and priceless. But before talking about how the curtain closed, let’s recall some of the best moments. The first day as always started with a bang. Glamorous designs and super gorgeous models walked the fabulous ramp. The show shattered the stereotypical ideas of how a model should be, as defined by society. The models who strutted the ramp at Blenders Pride - TGIF Nepal Fashion Week 2016 all had their unique looks and charm, and differed in terms of facial structures and physique. On the second day, student designers ruled the runway with new ideas, whereas on the third day, prominent designers didn’t fail to impress. And the fourth day was filled with sparkles. Upcoming designer Manish Rai stole the show with his collection ‘Sparkle’. A round of applause was given to this debuting designer. The title references his inspiration that comes from the galaxy and the outfits shone like stars in the sky. On fabrics such silk organza, raw silk and tulle, he had weaved lace flower and Swarovski stones. The hard work was reflected in each and every outfit of his. Sushma Singh started the show with her collection of ‘Lehengas’, and everyone was bound to fall in love with the vibrant colours, embedded glitter work and patterns. This was followed by the beginners of fashion. A collection of long and knee length silk gowns by Anima Shakya, Rebika Ranjitkar and Min Pradhan mirrored elegance and grace. The collection was based on fabric manipulation techniques like smocking using embellishment with beads and pearls. Muna Shrestha, Malika Shakya and Samita Shrestha beautifully played with the colours — black and teal — in their collection ‘Sense of Teal’. They showcased beautiful dresses tailored in diverse silhouettes whereas Manita Adhikari’s collection made one feel a little nostalgic, as it lived upto its name ‘Seventies Flare’. It was a superb combo of vintage, retro modern day style. Breaking away from mainstream fashion was the collection of Sony Rana Magar and Asmita Rai — ‘The Rebellion’. It was truly different with leathers, chains and frills. Samsad Din Miya’s collection ‘Aphrodite’ was not to be missed. Beautiful gowns and dresses in black, white, maroon and ink blue were classy and sexy at the same time. ‘Nu Ma Fag’ by Sunita Shrestha, Srijana Lingden, Risang Dolma Lama was endearing, delicate yet dauntless with vivid colours, lovely textures and amalgamation of varied flows and silhouettes. The closing slot left the audiences jaw drop. Daljeet Sudan touched ethnic tradition and contemporary trends. Sudan who showed two collections was inspired by ‘Laligurans’ and ‘Sunjhayl’. Through the first collection she brought out the dichotomy of beauty of Nepal’s national flower Laligurans in her prints. Whereas for the second collection she encapsulated the abstract perception of the golden window, showcasing it through fabric colours and embroidery. Her elaborate outfits each boasted a high level of detail and sophisticated cut. The showstopper Raveena Desraj Joshi wrapped up the show looking gorgeous as ever.
