The amendment proposal passed by the meeting of the parliamentary party chaired by the seniormost member of the party Kul Bahadur Gurung, was endorsed by the party’s Central Working Committee after a meeting of the parliamentary party on the premises of the Legislature Parliament in New Baneshwor. According to Chief Whip Chinkaji Shrestha, the statute has made the parliamentary party’s working committee more inclusive adding three more members one each from Tharu and Muslim communities and one woman in the existing provision of 12 members representation from different communities. The representation from five development regions has been changed to seven Pradeshes as per the new constitution, Shrestha said. The number of nominated members from the parliamentary party leader has been increased to nine from the previous provision of six including three women. Both the general secretaries of the party will also be the member of the parliamentary party working committee even if they are not lawmakers. The CWC meeting also endorsed the recommendation of the parliamentary party to include independent lawmaker Atahar Kamal Musalman of Kapilvastu Constituency No 2 as member of the NC parliamentary party. According to CWC member Pradip Poudel, NC will now have 207 MPs after CWC endorsed Musalman’s request to join the NC parliamentary party. Musalman had contested the election challenging the NC’s decision. The parliamentary party also warned the government alleging that the government was preparing to bring ordinance having long-term effect bypassing the parliament. Shrestha also said the PP demanded that the government make the works of reconstruction effective and ensure good governance by providing all the essentials to the people and ending anti-people activities, including black-marketing and corruption. Meanwhile, the NC PP is scheduled to elect its new leader on Wednesday and the executive committee on Friday. Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and senior leader Ramchandra Paudel are in the fray for the PP leadership. The election committee has already published the election schedule for both the elections and has decided that candidates of the parliamentary party leader should submit Rs 25,000 to file his/her nomination.
