Kathmandu, April 11 Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today conferred rank and appointment insignias to newly passed-out officer-cadets of the Nepali Army amidst a function held at Nepali Army Academy in Kharipati, Bhaktapur. A total of 107 cadets, including 10 women commissioned from the Batch 54 Officer Cadet Training, and 26 other cadets had graduated from Batch 44 Rank Officer Cadet Training. Among the officer-cadets, three foreigners  one each from Kenya, Maldives and Nigeria also took part in the two years’ training. While addressing the function, PM Oli lauded the role of the Nepali Army in defending national independence and territorial integrity. He expressed his belief that the national force would able to defend and serve democracy and play a crucial role by understanding the time and situation of the country. “Nepali Army is the pride of Nepal and the Nepali people,” he said. “The force has helped us in times of need and grief.” The prime minister also praised the Nepali army’s role in international security through its active participation in UN peacekeeping missions around the world. On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Bhim Rawal, Chief of Army Staff General Rajendra Chhetri, former army chiefs, generals and military attaches of foreign diplomatic missions based in Kathmandu were present.
