Jajarkot, April 14 A child marriage was prevented after a girl filed a case against her guardians for forcing her to marry at Area Police Office, Panchhaladaha, in Jajarkot. Binita Tamata, 15, of Majhakot VDC filed a case against her guardians with the police office and local child networks on March 12 after her guardians arranged her marriage. The marriage, which was scheduled for today, has been stopped. It is said Binita’s parents were working in India and she was living with her uncle and aunt. Her uncle Sabate Tamata had fixed Binita’s marriage without informing her parents. Sabate had fixed Binita’s marriage with Milan BK, 20, of Jagannath VDC, Dailekh, a month ago. Milan’s father had reached Majhkot VDC fully prepared, but the marriage ceremony was stopped after police and representatives from child networks convinced him against it. Meanwhile, Chairman Bhabindra Thapa of Child Networks said that the marriage was stopped after Binita filed a case alleging coerced marriage on time. It is said that Binita had just appeared for the School Leaving Certificate Examinations.
