Rajbiraj, April 15 New Force Coordinator Baburam Bhattarai today said Madhes-based parties’ myopic vision had made the Tarai agitation meaningless. Speaking at Madhes Awareness Campaign in Saptari’s Bhardaha, Bhattarai argued that the Tarai agitation was aborted due to Tarai-centric parties’ shortsightedness. “The Tarai agitation came to an end bearing no fruit as the parties spearheading the movement could not come up with a concrete vision to win the confidence of foreign powers,” said Bhattarai. He said the Tarai agitation was aborted as Tarai-based parties could not forge partnership with other forces to give more strength to the movement. READ ALSO

Bhattarai asked the Madhesi parties to learn from the past and forge alliance with Tharus, indigenous people and marginalised communities and launch Singha Durbar-centric protest to get their demands fulfilled. He said his party was ready to extend all possible support to the Madhes-based parties to press the government to meet the demands raised by the Madhesi people. He flayed the Unified CPN-Maoist for not fighting for the cause of marginalised people and accused the Unified-CPN Maoist and its chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of sacrificing ideals for ministerial berths.
