Garbage dumping at Sisdole landfill site comes to a halt

Transportation of garbage from the Kathmandu metropolitan city and the Lalitpur sub-metropolitan city to the Okharpauwa landfill site (OLS) has been disrupted for a month due to occurrence of landslides along the Teenpiple-Alter access road. As per an agreement reached

between the two municipalities, Okharpauwa VDC, and the Solid Waste Management and Resource Mobilisation Centre, garbage originating from Kathmandu and Lalitpur was to be dumped at Sisdole, Okharpauwa, from June to September. Ashok Shahi, the acting general manager of the Solid Waste Management and Resource Mobilisation Centre, said: “The access route was constructed to transport garbage.”Once the trial period is over, transportation of garbage from the two municipalities to the site will commence again from October.
