KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel said parliamentary hearing for appointment of Supreme Court justices and ambassadors could not take place unless Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli apologised for cancellation of recommendation of advocate Ram Prasad Sitaula for the Judicial Council membership. 'The Prime Minister withdrew the name of Ram Prasad Sitaula claiming that there was no any parliamentary hearing committee then,' Paudel said, 'So, who will conduct the hearing now?' 'Therefore, no hearing can take place unless he self-criticised, accepting that the parliamentary committee existed.' The opposition leader warned, 'Otherwise, the justice and ambassador nominees should wait till formation of the parliamentary hearing committee after elections to the House of Representatives and the National Assembly.' Paudel was speaking at an interaction with journalists in Kathmandu today. On November 5 last year, the CPN-UML Chairman Oli-led government had cancelled the parliamentary hearing of senior advocate Ram Prasad Sitaula, who was appointed member of the Judicial Council by the erstwhile Nepali Congress-led government. He was nominated to the post on June 8 and was reappointed on October 1 by then Prime Minister Sushil Koirala. Meanwhile, Paudel accused the government of haphazardly picking envoys for Nepali missions abroad. READ ALSO:
