Rautahat, April 26 Fire victims of Hajminiya VDC, who lost all their property in a fire two days ago, have been living under the open sky for want of shelter and relief. Though the inferno gutted many houses at Patahi Tole of the VDC, the District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee has yet to distribute relief to the fire victims. The victims are compelled to adjust their family members with cattle in the same makeshift tents for want of proper rehabilitation. Binda Sah, a victim, complained that they did not have any option but to live under the open sky as they were deprived of relief. “We have not been able to send our kids to school ever since the inferno,” regretted another victim Sunar Pati Devi. Property worth around Rs 4 million was destroyed and at least nine houses of eight families were destroyed in the inferno. Meanwhile, Chief District Officer of the district Nara Hari Baral said his office, in coordination with the District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee and Nepal Red Cross Society, among others, had managed relief for as many as 56 fire victim families. He pledged to provide the fire victims of Patahi Tole with relief soon.
