KATHMANDU: The Metropolitan Police Crime Division on Wednesday and Thursday arrested five persons who presented themselves as engineers while they in fact did not have any degree. Earlier, on Wednesday, police had busted a racket which would distribute fake engineering degree certificates to such people. Five of the gang were arrested then also. Complaints were lodged with police that some fake engineers who were registered at the Nepal Engineering Council were being employed in various organisations with fake degrees. After the tip-off, the MPCD had formed a special team to scrutinise details about such activities. Further investigation into the case had led to arrest other five fugitive engineers from various places in Kathmandu Valley. The suspects have been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur for investigation, the MPCD statement said.
