KATHMANDU: Commission for the Investigation Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Monday produced journalist Kanak Mani Dixit before the Supreme Court. The Court on Thursday had ordered the Commission to produce Dixit, the Sajha Yatayat Chairman, before it to conduct hearing on a habeas corpus writ filed by his wife Shanta. Dixit was accompanied by a doctor, according to himalkhabar.com, with which Dixit is associated. A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Justice Jagadish Sharma Paudel is hearing the case. Accusing Dixit of amassing property by abusing his authority at the Sajha Yatayat, the Commission had nabbed the noted human rights activist from his residence in Patan on April 22. Dixit, however, complained of hypertension on the very next day, which allowed him to skip the police custody and take rest at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Bir Hospital.
