My mother is my role model. She is the one who I aspire to be when In grow up. She is nice, and smart. I wish to inherit most qualities of my mother to become a good person like her. Firstly, I want to be a responsible person like my mother. She is the most responsible person because she cooks before going to work, not all mothers cook because they don’t have time. The most amazing thing is she does it every day and is never late for work. Secondly, I wish to inherit her compassionate nature. She has taught me to believe in people and not to hold grudges. She is always respectful to others. Thirdly, my mother is an optimistic person. I also want to be a strong and positive person like her. She has learned how to move on from negativity towards positivity. I love how she respects herself and motivates us not to give up.

— Deepak Shah, Old Baneshwor, Kathmandu

My mum is myn favourite person in the entire world. She has taught me to be honest, and say things on people’s face, not behind their back which is why I never have to fear anyone. My mum is funny too — she jokes around. And she also scolds me. She has faced lots of struggles, yet she is always positive. If only I could inherit even half of her positivity, her attitude, that would be a great achievement for me. I love my mum unconditionally and I want her to be happy forever.

— Sunita Shakya, Lalitpur

For me my mother symbolises goddesses Durga, Laxmi and Saraswoti. She is of great significance for me and my family. She is the embodiment of love and care. She always stands for the family, sacrificing her needs and desires. Her way of smiling, love, care, and the way she showers all her affection lure me and my siblings. All her characteristics are no doubt appreciated by everyone in the family. I prefer to get name and fame like her because she is a singer too. I like the way she deals and tackles any problem. Her way of handling any problem is magical. And she makes us burst into laughter with her humour. My family is a cheerful and happy family only because of my mother.

— Subha Dangol, Bhainsepati

The best feature that I wish to inherit from my mother is her ability to forgive others and provide unconditional support and care despite being misunderstood, not being appreciated and often being verbally abused. Mothers are often taken for granted despite their hard work and dedication. And I wish to learn from my mother her Himalayan tolerance to several of our regular failures to even meet her minimal expectations in life. In spite of hard challenges in life, I would like to learn to still laugh and enjoy life like her as if nothing impacts her even while facing the greatest adversaries in life. I pray to almighty to provide me the ability to withstand and absorb pain of life like my mother; and still be able to extend my support for helping others; as she has done all her life.

I have inherited most of the physical traits of my mother. But I am not as patient as my mother is, and I wish to develop this quality. My mother is very humble and generous, and handles any difficult problem with ease. And I also want to develop those qualities.

— Indira Magar, Janakpur

My mother taught me to speak politely with people, and she used to do the same. I used to follow such behaviour forcefully in the initial stage, which at present has become my normal habit. Consequently I can easily adjust and make friendship with many people and strangers as well. I need this quality at work to be a successful employee. The meticulous behaviour that my mother taught me has led me to success.

— Arjun Babu Dauliya, Balaju-16, Kathmandu

Mother is a giver of my life. She is a greatest person and my first soul friend. She has accompanied me even before I came into this world. No one in the world can replace the deep love of my mum for me. She is my role model. She has taught me all the values and norms required to be what I am today. She is my source of inspiration. And I have inherited many qualities of hers — hard work, patience, humility, kindness, simplicity, perseverance, tolerance, forgiveness, understanding, farsightedness et cetera. These values are strong foundation of my life.

— Sabina Sharma, St Xavier College, Maitighar

Mother loves her children and it can’t be described in words. For everyone, their mother is the best though others may see her as a strict, unkind, selfish and nosy person. My mother has many best qualities — she is kind and caring, energetic but also extrovert and straight forward. And these are the qualities I would like to inherit from her. She always takes care of not only us (her children) but anyone who are in need — I have found many people talking about her kind behaviour and help they have received from her. She has aged, yet she does any work she is capable of doing. I don’t know how she gets that energy. She is strict and that has shaped our path in a brighter side. Though her direct and honest words have made people angry at times, it has helped them in the long run and I respect her honesty.

My mother is everything for me. She is the precious gift that god has granted me. For every child, her mother is the best one. For me too, she is my ideal. My mother is a real heroine, because of her strength, courage and bravery. Though many obstacles were created in her life, she never gave up or lost hope. When my brother was young and sick, my mother visited Kathmandu alone for the first time, to cure his diseases. She proved that women are capable enough to sort out their problems on their own. My mother’s life is synonymous to hardships but she has always dealt with those problems bravely. Among various characteristics of my mother, I want to inherit her bravery and the power to overcome all the obstacles.

I share a very strong bondn with my mother. We are like best friends — we share everything with each other, we give each other advices, we go for shopping. We too have arguments with each other for some time but at the end of the day, we know that we love each other immensely. And the way she has brought her children up is something that I admire and would like to inherit from my mother. She is a very optimistic person. She is patient as well. My mother being a religious person has always taught me to be a nice human being at first. Her motto in life is ‘help ever, hurt never’. All the good things which I have in myself so far are due to my mother which I have inherited from her.

— Tejaswi Pahari, Jawalakhel, Lalitpur

Everyone has got some talent even if one lacks formal education. My mother, who is a housewife, is great in time management. She handles the conflict between us. She is like a multiverse — multi talented, active, smart, and motivating and of course a leader. I want to inherit these characters.

— Nabin Joshi, Bright Future S School, Kathmandu

My mum is my role model — she always performs all her duties effectively. She plays various roles of — house wife, business woman, caretaker, and she performs all her roles with perfection. Her activities inspire me a lot. In future I wish to become just like her.

Mother is a symbol of love and care. She is my first teacher, friend and my inspiration. She is most beautiful, strong, loving, caring and wonderful person. I always wonder how she manages everything perfectly, and is surprised because of her kind nature. Sometimes I fight with her, shout at her, hurt her, but at the end of the day she makes me realise my mistakes without hurting me. She solves every problem without getting nervous. When I’m afraid of facing problems, she clams me down and gives strength. She is straightforward. She explains things very simply — she knows everything. I thank her for being simple. She teaches me how to live life positively. I love the way she looks, she cooks and what she is.

— Neelam Khanal, Tansen, Palpa

Mother is a wonderfuln creation of the nature. Words are not enough to describe her. She is my friend, teacher and defender. Giving birth to twin daughters was not easy for her but she never gave up. She has kind nature and she teaches me how to handle problems without getting nervous. She encourages and motivates us. She also teaches us the lessons of love, life and struggle. As a result of her hard work, she is a good example how a mother can be a best teacher and good friend as well.

— Neetu Khanal, Tansen 10, Palpa

The unconditional love that mother has for us is the most powerful love in this world. She has showed the world to us and she is always there for us, loving us unconditionally. If I had to inherit some of her qualities, it would be her good sense of humour. I would like to inherit this trait so that I would be able to make everyone around me smile even in the worst situation.

— Mallika Shakya, Jawlakhel, Lalitpur

The role of mother in our life is always different and precious. My mother, who is a shopkeeper and a homemaker, always inspires me to become an elegant and valour woman like her. Her enthusiastic nature always makes us wonder how does she do it? Despite household chores and dozens of responsibilities to be fulfilled, she has always known to manage time and nurture her both daughters and perform her duties as a wife. Her unconditional love for everybody and her continuous effort to make our family a happy and prosperous place to live is what I love most about her. She has not only taught us to be a studious person or to be kind, but she has also taught us to be a good human being. This is the reason why I want to be nothing else but my mother.

— Rubina Adhikari, Trinity International College XI

My mother is the role model of my life. She is my beacon in the stormy days. She has always taught me to face the challenges with courage and trust in divine. I have seen her going through various ups and downs of life but she was never been discouraged by them. In fact, she endures cheerfully. Her cheerful nature has always added laughter into my life. As I grow more mature and go deeper into my life’s experiences, I find myself, being supported by her values and lessons. I feel very much privileged to be born as her daughter. Every day, as I step forward into my life, I want to become a little bit more like my mother.

— Dreamtwriter, Kalimpong

I love the innocence of my mum, however, I want to inherit the quality of self-restraint from her. My mum and I are totally opposite. I have zero level of patience and it prevents me from making good relationship with family and friends. So, if I get to inherit any quality of my mother, then it would be the level of patience. I want to maintain a healthy as well happy relation with all people like my mum does. One thing I have realised from her is that to be liked and to be loved, we should also acquire some level of patience.

— Sanjiva Shrestha

It’s a well-known fact that every child in this world loves his/her mother without any condition to which I’m also not an exception. Like all other children, I also love my mother from the depth of my heart. I like her habit of being happy and having a lot of fun. She wants to enjoy even with outsiders who visit our house for some kind of reason. Her belief is that there should be a pleasant environment in a house and it impresses me most of the time.

— Pratik Shrestha, Buddhanagar, Baneshwor

I want to inherit from my mother the purest form of love — the way she loves her children, without any interest. When I was a child, after getting up in the morning, I used to go to the kitchen with my eyes closed so that I could see my mother first, after opening my eyes. When I was 10 years old, I had chickenpox. One day, my blisters became very annoying and I was changing sides while trying to sleep at night. Whenever I woke up, I saw my mother sitting beside me sharing my pain. She never punished me. But whenever I did some wrong, she used to sing a song. Her sad song made me swear of not doing any wrong in future. She had trust in her children for everything, be it our characters or knowledge. This trust had a tremendous impact on our growth. In fact, such a trust could, always, do the magic and catapult a person to a greater height than s/he is destined to reach.

— Sujit De, Kolkata, West Bengal, India

My mother always tried to make me as calm as earth and strong enough to endure all the sorrows of world. She always gave me example, saying earth has capacity to endure all kinds of obstacles. As she has herself experienced the bitter reality of life, she welcomes them as happiness with smile on her face. She has good soul and spirit and never tries to hurt anyone knowingly. Her nurture in my life taught me many good things. I have learnt to do good karma in life. My life is good and thanks to my mother from whom I have inherited good things in my life.

I feel blessed to have a mother who is no less than a superwoman. I would like to inherit all of her beautiful qualities, but the habit that I most admire about her is — her perseverance towards her work. The way she juggles multiple works with enthusiasm and honesty is overwhelming. Her love towards everyone, the way she understands everyone’s silence fascinates me. Needless to say, my mother is an angel in disguise.

— Simran Giri, Masbar 7, Pokhara

My mum has always been and will always be a person whom I look up to. She sees hopes even in despair times and opportunities in challenges. Even though she does not fail to toss some scolding every now and then, she’s the joy of my life and the smile of my face. I remember how she protected and cared for me and my sister at the time of the earthquake. Her only concern was our safety and she paid no attention to her own. She’ll do anything to cheer me up if I’m ever feeling low. She’ll hug me and try her best to find solutions. She’ll even crack a joke when I won’t laugh. Maybe that’s what I want to inherit — her immense love, and devotion. Her ability to let go of her own self and find happiness in others despite the hardships and the struggles in life is something that I’d want to learn the most. Her power to overcome fear, be happy and even make others happy is what I yearn for in every moment I spend with her, every time, all over again.

— Shreemad Pradhan, Bangemudha, Kathmandu

My mother is patient, which I want to inherit in my life. She always requests me to have patience. She never hurries up at work. Beyond this, she is a hard working woman. I am too much influenced by these qualities of hers. I have thought of adopting these qualities in my life.
