Kathmandu Vivek Automobiles Pvt Ltd, autho-rised distributor of Royal Enfield, is all set to introduce its much-awaited motor-cycle — Himalayan in the Nepali market. The Royal Enfield Himalayan is expected to roll out in the domestic market in June. According to the company, Himalayan is the most versatile motorcycle fitted for on-and off-road ride. Powered by 411 cc engine, Himalayan generates a maximum power of 24.5 bhp at 6,500 rpm with maximum torque of 32 Nm at 4,000 to 4,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox. The optimised handlebar, seat and foot peg positioning along with a narrow fuel tank, allow the rider to travel with ease. “The Himalayan is an off-road special motorcycle being introduced for the first time in Nepal. The name ‘Himalayan’ itself makes the two-wheeler unique from the other motor-cycles,” said Rudrajung Shah, Sales Manager at Vivek Automobiles Pvt Ltd. Citing that annually they sell altogether around 2,500 units of Royal Enfield bikes, he said, “With the launch of Himalayan, we aim to sell around 4,000 units within the first year.” According to Shah, Himalayan gives riders a comfortable ride whether it is on the highway, city roads, and off-roads. The long-travel suspension, natural upright riding position, a durable and torque engine are some of the noticeable features of this bike. He further shared, “We are optimistic about the market performance of Himalayan as we have been receiving a sizable number of inquiries for the bike.” This bike consists of a 41 mm fork telescopic front suspension and mono-shock with linkage suspension at the rear. The two-wheeler consists of 21-inch front tyre and 17-inch rear tyre. The bike offers an impressive ground clearance of 220 mm. Its LCD instrument cluster keeps the rider in track. Pointed at the front, making it easier to touch the ground, the seat is wide at the rear giving a comfortable and supportive ride. Added with a high intensity headlamp placed at the top of the fuel tank spreads the projection lights at the time of need. Deriving the Royal Enfield’s engine DNA, the long stroke LS410 engine delivers the key low–end torque, giving riders power for city and off-road ride. The Himalayan is equipped with 300 mm disc brake, two-piston floating calliper at the front and 240 mm disk brake, single piston-floating calliper at the rear. Its external cooling system for the crankcase oil, controls engine temperature under the harshest of use and improves performance by cooling the engine. It has a fuel tank capacity of 15 litres.  The bike will be available in two shades — Granite Black and Snow White in the Nepali market.
