Rajbiraj, May 11 Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, Vinay Kumar, today said new projects could not be launched in the Tarai region as the older projects with Indian investment were yet to be completed. Inaugurating a health camp jointly organised by Nepal-India Friendship Association and Cancer Alleviation Organisation in Rajbiraj, Kumar clarified that India would not be able to add new projects in the Tarai as the projects being constructed with Indian investment were yet to be completed. He expressed worry over the fate of many big and small projects that were agreed to be launched, but were never launched for many years. “As a friendly neighbour, India wants Nepal’s progress and prosperity. The projects in the hills have been completed on time, while projects launched in the plains have been delayed and are problematic,” Vinay added. Vinay said Saptari had failed to receive new projects from India due to the non-completion of work at the parturition department of Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital as well as school buildings at various places. “We want the ongoing as well as past projects to be completed on time. This will open the doors of more projects,” Vinay said. He added that India had been assisting Nepal in various areas, including education, health, and transportation sectors for many years and would continue to do the same.
