Awareness programme launched against diseases

Rajbiraj, May 19 Save the Children, in coordination with District Education Office and Public Health Office, has launched a week long awareness campaign against different diseases in 13 VDCs of Saptari after diseases broke out across the district. A rally and an assembly were organised in Kochabakhari and Boriya VDCs as part of the awareness campaign yesterday. Locals and schoolchildren were educated about various diseases and their symptoms, causes, effects and precautionary actions against them. Orientation programmes in 45 schools of Rampura, Malhaniya, Banainiya, Koiladi, Jamuni, Madhepura, Kochapokharai, Boriya, Chhinmastha and other VDCs are also set to be conducted under the campaign. The programmes will focus on sanitation, child nutrition, personal hygiene, diseases and their effects, among other health and sanitation topics. Sources at the organisation said the campaign will include various activities such as debate competitions, quiz contests, interaction programmes, and a rally in 13 schools. Programme Officer Ram Kumar Shah said that the awareness campaign was launched under the school health programme, he added, “The programme will help produce healthier citizens for our future.”
