KATHMANDU: The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) has recorded over three-fold decrease in the number of incidents of traffic rule violation in the Capital in the past 10 days, thanks to increase in monetary penalty imposed on the violators. The MTPD said the number of traffic rule violation incidents has decreased to an average of around 400 to 700 on a daily basis from an average of 1600 to 2300, recorded before May 14, the day when the government had decided to increase the fine for traffic rule violators. The MTPD deputy spokesperson, Rajendra Prasad Bhatta, attributed the decrease to the increment in fine for traffic rule violators.
