DOTI: Minimum Wages Fixation Committee on Tuesday called on the government to be responsible towards the enforcement of Working Journalists' Act. Taking part in an interaction programme on 'the state of enforcement implementation of working journalists', at Dipayal, the district headquarters of Doti, Coordinator of the Committee Poshan KC said there is no other alternative than to close those media houses that are not even paying minimum wages to journalists. KC, who is also the advisor to the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), stressed that every media house should pay journalists through banks and a copy of that bank voucher should be provided to the Committee. The majority of journalists who took part in the programme complained that they have not even received appointment letters from the media houses they are working for adding that they have been deprived of promised payment. Sometimes, media houses do not pay journalists on time, they complained.
