2 killed, 7 injured in Bajura flood

BAJURA: At least two persons died and seven others were injured after being swept away by a flood in Rugin VDC of Bajura district on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Misil Buda Thapa (10) and his brother Dirgha Buda Thapa (6), DSP Dal Bahadur Bogati of the District Police Office, Bajura, said.
More than 60 houses were completely destroyed in the flood, he added.
Nairita Bhandari, Chamkala Buda Thapa, Man Buda Thapa, Mohan Sunar, Riuli Buda Thapa, Kusum Kala Buda Thapa and Amma Kala Buda Thapa were injured in the incident.
All the injured are receiving treatment at a local pharmacy, police informed.
The incident occurred at around 4 am today.
Police said that seven cows and 30 goats were also killed in the flood caused by heavy rainfall.
It has been learned that food grains, clothes and other belongings of the villagers were also swept away after the floodwater entered into their houses.
According to the District Police Office, Bajura, a joint police team from Bichhyan Police Post and Kolti Police Post has been dispatched for the rescue operation.
The incident site is a three-day walk from Martadi, the district headquarters of Bajura.
The details of property destroyed in the disaster are still awaited.
