Pokhara, May 28 A week-long campaign is under way in the Lake City with the aim of curbing smuggling and abuse of illicit drugs in Kaski district. The campaign was launched at the initiative of Kaski police. Of the total 38 cases filed at the district court, 23 are related to drugs. Police arrested a group of six persons, including a girl, for their involvement in drug trafficking from a hotel room in Singapore Tole of Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City last Tuesday. Investigation Officer at Kaski District Police Office, Ganesh Bam, said some drivers of long-route buses and their helpers were also involved in drug abuse. Kaski police have registered 61 drug-related cases at the district court in the last 10 months of the current fiscal. As many as 95 males and seven females were arrested for drug trafficking in the same period. Drug Control Bureau Pokhara Chief Rabindra Gurung said the number of people falling victims to drug abuse was increasing in Pokhara. “Majority of the drug users are teenagers.”
