Kathmandu, June 12 Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa today said that he found the soured relations between Nepal and India gradually improving during his latest visit to India. Upon his return home today after his three-day India visit, Thapa said that he met with Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and reviewed the current state of Nepal-India relations. “I found relations between the two countries gradually being improving. The more than one dozen bilateral talks and meetings scheduled to be held in June-July also shows that relations between the two countries is becoming pleasant,” Thapa told reporters at Tribhuvan International Airport. There is no bitter relations with India as portrayed outside, he said. During the meeting with Swaraj, both emphasised the importance of regular exchange of views at different levels to further strengthen bilateral relations. “We agreed to have Joint Commission Meeting at a mutually convenient date in order to review the overall progress in Nepal-India relations, including the progress in various joint undertakings,” Thapa said. “I conveyed that Nepal’s relations with India could not be compared with any other bilateral relations and should be seen on its own merit and that Nepal wants to grow and prosper with our close neighbours, which are emerging global economic powers,” he said.
