Lawmakers demand safety of Nepalis abroad

Kathmandu, June 21 Lawmakers today expressed grief at the death of a dozen Nepalis in a terrorist attack in Kabul yesterday and demanded security of the Nepali nationals living abroad. Speaking at the Parliament during special time today, many lawmakers demanded that the government make diplomatic efforts for quick treatment of victims of terrorist attack and provide appropriate compensation to the family members of those who died and action against those manpower agencies for sending Nepalis to conflict-hit countries. UML lawmaker Chudamani BK Jungali demanded a probe into the Kabul incident and security of Nepali nationals living abroad. He said it was wrong to send people by undermining their security. Lawmaker Tulasa Rana of CPN Maoist Centre demanded that the government inform Parliament why and how Nepalis were taken to Afghanistan. Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal lawmaker Durga Poudel urged the government to make necessary efforts for the treatment of those injured in the attack and bring them home. Speaker Onsari Gharti said the Parliament expresses condolence to the 12 Nepalis who died in the terrorist attack in Kabul and condemned the attack. Gharti urged appropriate treatment for those injured in the incident. Meanwhile lawmakers of coalition partners and opposition party argued with each other regarding reconstruction work and providing compensation to earthquake victims. Claiming that National Reconstruction Authority has been performing excellent work though their tasks were delayed due to various reasons, lawmaker Bikas Lamsal urged the lawmakers not to criticise and learn to praise good works as well. However, other lawmakers raised concern over the delay in reconstruction works and providing support to the disaster victims. NC lawmaker Arjun Prasad Joshi said senior ministers who were inducted to implement the constitution have been working against the republican set up and federalism.
