Septuagenarian found dead in Mahakali

MAHENDRANAGAR: Police said they have recovered a body of an elderly man, who had reportedly gone missing after jumping into the Mahakali River yesterday evening in Kanchanpur district, on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Ram Dutta Joshi (72) of Basantapur, Bhimdutta Municipality in the district. According to the Kanchanpur District Police Office, Joshi had gone missing after jumping into the ferocious river from Badaipur, Bhimdutta Municipality-13 on Wednesday evening. It was reported that the elderly had initially gone there to take bath. But later, he changed the mind and jumped into the river to commit suicide, police added. Police Inspector Lal Bahadur Bam at the DPO said the body was recovered by police personnel deployed from the Jhulunge Temporary Police Post while conducting search operation. The body was handed over to the kin of Joshi after completing all the legal procedures, added Bam.
