Kathmandu, July 21 Lalit Krishna Shrestha, the acting president of All Nepal Football Association and President of Ruslan Three Star Club who lost his life due to electrocution at his residence in Bhaisepati last year, was honoured with the Special Award posthumously at the Pulsar Sports Award 2072 here today. Shrestha was seen as the next leader of Nepali football in the wake of FIFA Ethics Committee’s corruption charge against ANFA President Ganesh Thapa. He was known for his ‘patch-up’ police in football fraternity and was a dependable figure as well. After Thapa was handed a 10-year ban, Shrestha’s absence in Nepali football has already been felt as the ANFA is in limbo and football activities reduced heavily. The audience at the Nepal Academy Hall got emotional when the audio-visual presentation ran on huge projector. The situation turned more touching as Shrestha’s widow Nilu and son Shreyash walked to the stage to receive the award. Dish Home CEO Sudeep Acharya and NSC Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista handed over the trophy. Nilu Shrestha thanked the organisers for recognising the contribution of her husband. “I am grateful to the NSJF for providing my husband with this award,” said the tearful Shrestha.
