PM Oli set to resign, Cabinet asks Prez to use Article 305 to remove difficulties: Sources

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli would announce his resignation at the Parliament after responding to the no-confidence motion against him, according to sources close to him. Also, the meeting of Cabinet has decided to recommend President Bidya Devi Bhandari to use the power to remove difficulties as per the Article 305 of Constitution of Nepal in order to pave the way for the formation of new government after Oli resigns. The Parliament had elected CPN-UML Chairman Oli as the prime minister on October 11, 2015. He had assumed his office the following day. The Parliament is currently holding deliberations on the no-confidence motion, brought in by Oli's former trusted ally CPN Maoist Centre and the main opposition Nepali Congress.
