5 killed, 1 injured in Gulmi landslides

KATHMANDU:
At least five persons died and one sustained critical injuries in two separate incidents of landslide in Gulmi district of western Nepal on Tuesday morning. Three members of a single family were buried to death when a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall buried a house in Bishukarkhar VDC-9. According to the District Police Office, Gulmi, the deceased have been identified as Tulasi Darjee (49), daughter Asmita Darjee (19) and Tulasi's sister-in-law Kalika Darjee (62). The incident took place at around 4:30 am today. Police said that Bishnu Saru Magar (50), a neighbour of Tulasi Darjee, was critically injured in the incident. He has been sent to the District Hospital for treatment. Another landslide buried a house in Haspichaur VDC-1, killing two members of a single family. The incident occurred at around 3:30 am today. Police said that eight-year-old Sujan Rana and his six-year-old sister Simana Rana was killed in the incident.
