KATHMANDU: A first-of-its-kind study report was discussed by key stakeholders — government, commercial bankers, agriculture entrepreneurs and experts — to agree on necessary actions in order to facilitate medium- and large-scale investment in agriculture sector in Nepal recently. The event was jointly hosted by Asian Development Bank and White Lotus Centre (WLC). While agriculture is the most important economic sector for development with contribution of over 30 per cent to gross domestic product and over 65 per cent of employment for the country, it has, unfortunately, also remained the worst faring sector with only 2.9 per cent growth rate through 2006-2015.
