Phidim, July 31 With rural roads obstructed by incessant rainfall for the past two weeks at many places in Panchthar, supply of daily essentials has been badly affected. Transportation in rural areas has come to a grinding halt with landslide debris blocking many roads. Daily essentials have been in short supply at all the rural hubs in the district. Debris has piled up on roads such as Phidim-Phalaut, Rake-Rabi, Damak-Chisapani-Rabi, Limba-Durdimba, Pauwabhanjyang-Ranitar-Lungrupa and Ektin-Meme making it next to impossible for vehicles to ply, complained transport entrepreneurs. “We cannot travel from Sarkhande of Phidim – 5 along the Phidim-Aatharai and Oyam- Chyangthapu road section at all until the debris is completely cleared,” they said. “We have started experiencing shortage of daily essentials because there are no roads to bring the supplies in,” locals said. At present, only Rake-Kabeli, Jorpokhari to Ektin-Memeng and Jorpokhari-Panchamukhi and Phidim-Yasok road sections are operational in the district.
