Bajura flood, landslide victims get relief goods

BAJURA: As many as 188 families displaced by recent floods and landslides in Bajura district were provided with relief materials. The materials were distributed by Caritas Nepal and Food First Information and Action Network (FIAN Nepal). The relief materials worth Rs 1.6 million included rice (1 quintal), pulses (9.5 quintal), salt (3.67 quintal), quilts (378 pieces) and garments (378 pieces), informed Caritas Mid- and Far-Western Regional Coordinator Janak Sharma. The displaced locals were elated to receive the materials after a week of the displacement. Child Workers in Nepal Concerned Centre (CWIN) has also distributed 75 tarpaulins worth Rs 400,000 in Dhagadhi. The NGO Federation of Nepal District President Kashi BK said the organisations were able to collect the relief materials in a large volume and attributed it to the role media played. Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has stated that its attention has been drawn to the condition of flood and landslide victims.
