KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, who deserted the Maoist party last September to form Naya Shakti Nepal, has congratulated his former comrade Pushpa Kamal Dahal for his election as Nepal's new Prime Minister. In a Twitter post, Bhattarai extended his congratulation to Dahal and wished him a successful tenure. Following a long-term love-hate relationship with Dahal, Bhattarai severed ties with the then UCPN-Maoist after the new Constitution was promulgated last year. Bhattarai resigned from the Parliament also. Bhattarai has launched a new political party and named it Naya Shakti Nepal. Many influential Maoist leaders defected to his camp before the party was formally announced.
