Kathmandu, August 7 Lawmaker Kul Bahadur Gurung today urged all lawmakers to spend the budget allocated to them under the constituency development fund wisely. Speaking at a function here today, Gurung said, “There may be obstacles and pressures from various quarters. But a lawmaker should wisely use the budget keeping in view balanced and judicious development of his constituency.” According to a report, lawmakers were found giving priority to development projects in the urban areas, especially to impress voters. Another lawmaker Ranju Jha, speaking at the same programme, said most of the development activities were being carried out in city areas, while the rural areas were being neglected. Stating that each lawmaker wanted to stay in the capital, she said they were not willing to go back to their constituencies and contribute to development. “We are planning to raise the budget for constituency development,” said lawmaker Prabhu Sah. “Lawmakers should not be allocated budget if they cannot contribute to the development of their respective constituencies,” he added.
