CIB arrests doctors with fake credentials

Kathmandu, August 8 The Central Investigation Bureau, Maharajgunj, today apprehended two doctors, who had submitted fake academic certificates, from two different hospitals inside Kathmandu Valley. Jarna Sabiha, 32, a permanent resident of Malangawa, Sarlahi district, and 40 -year-old Kishor Gurung, a permanent resident of Dharan, were nabbed with fake credentials by a team deployed from the CIB, Nepal Medical Council and National Examination Board. Sabiha was held from the Lalitpur-based Midat Hospital whereas Gurung was arrested from Maharajgunj-based Shivapuri Dental Hospital. Police said the duo would have to face charges of fraud that would be lodged at the District Court. The doctors were arrested under Operation Quack launched by the CIB some months ago. Operation Quack is a crackdown on medical professionals who have allegedly obtained medical degrees and Nepal Medical Council licences by using fake academic credentials.
