Bajura, August 14 Hundreds of locals have joined hands with Nepal police and the Nepali Army to restore power supply in Bajura headquarters Martadi that has remained in the dark for the past one week. Power supply in Martadi was disrupted after the swollen Bahuli Khola swept away a canal of Triveni Micro Hydro Electricity Project. Hundreds of locals are now working for free to repair the canal. Mohan Jaishi, a local, said he was striving to restart power supply at the headquarters. “People from almost every household have come to repair the canal,” Jaishi said. He added, “More than 2,000 people including Nepali Army personnel, the police, students, employees, and locals have been working hard daily.” Project Chief Dayaram Pandit said Bahuli Khola breaches and damages the embankment every year. Pandit said that NA personnel, police, and locals were working hard despite the overflowing river. Project Secretary Dharma Upadhyay said that efforts were under way to construct a temporary structure at the dyke at Bahuli Gad to resume power supply. “Efforts are on to dispel the darkness,” Upadhyay said.
