Kathmandu:
When it comes to art, it’s always pa-ssion that guides an artist’s impulses. They evolve through introspection and endless observation that finally manifests in their creations. An artist however is nothing if not persevering enough. It’s a daunting trail to sublimation, but no less rewarding. Rukmani Dhital, one of the first batch students of Srijana College of Fine Arts, has staged her first solo exhibition of paintings at Srijana Art Gallery, Kamaladi from September 26. Artist and life member of Royal Nepal Academy Uttam Ne-pali inaugurated the exhibition. The show that showcases 28 of her best pieces, deals with subjects as diverse as mother-child relationship, landscapes, religious images and child labour issues rendered mostly in acrylic and oil.
Though, the brush strokes lack the confidence of a seasoned artist, the evolution of an artist seems obvious. The paintings are impressive more for their innocent appeal than their sublimity. Her most strong point is her stress on mother child relationship, which in her own words is, “the only relationship that weathers all odds and still remains as unadulterated as ever. No relationship is as strong as this relationship. That’s what I’ve portrayed”.
The exhibition is on till September 30.
