NSU poll begins five hours after schedule

KATHMANDU:  The voting to elect the Nepal Students Union (NSU) leadership has finally begun at around 1 pm today, after five hours of the scheduled time. Earlier, the voting was delayed as the Election Committee found it difficult to hold the voting for some posts using electronic voting machines and while using the ballot papers for some other posts. (Updated)  Technical issues delay NSU poll KATHMANDU: The voting to elect the Nepal Students Union (NSU) leadership has not begun yet due to 'technical reasons'. The voting was said to start from 8 am today. The NSU, a student wing of the ruling coalition partner Nepali Congress, is having its 11th general convention for over one week. The voting is scheduled to take place at the Nepali Congress central office, Sanepa. It is said the voting process could not be started as the Election Committee found it difficult to hold the voting for some posts using electronic voting machines and while using the ballot papers for some other posts. Seven people are vying for the post of NSU President. More than 500 candidates are vying for various positions, according to the Election Committee.
