Motorcycle thefts on the rise in Saptari

Rajbiraj, August 20 Increasing cases of motorcycle theft have been keeping police on their toes in Saptari district of late. According to police, as many as three cases of motorcycle theft were being reported in a week on an average. Police said they have arrested more than a dozen youths involved in motorcycle theft. But, the thefts continue to take place daily, police informed. A team of police arrested Dipak Kumar Yadav, 24, of Malekpur, Mohammad Alam, 15, of Belhichamena, Mithilesh Yadav, 21, and Ajaya Mandal, 21, of Madhepure on Saturday for their involvement in stealing bikes. SP Bhim Prasad Dhakal, of District Police Office, Saptari, informed that the police team seized the stolen bikes from the arrested. He said Bijaya Yadav, 24, of Tilathi was also arrested while trying to escape after stealing a motorbike. Besides motorbikes, incidents of theft of other household items are also on the rise in the district, terrifying the local residents of Rajbiraj and adjoining villages.
