Technical errors deprive victims of grant

Dhading, September 8 Earthquake victims of Tasrpu, Dhading, have reportedly been left in lurch after failing to withdraw cash deposited in their bank accounts. Of those who had signed the grant agreement, the first instalment amount of Rs 50,000 to 616 households had been deposited at Sanima Bank, Naubise. However, majority of the victims, could not withdraw the cash as their names and citizenship number did not tally with the official records. In the aftermath of the earthquake, National Reconstruction Authority had made public a list of 1,039 households as beneficiaries entitled to the grant amount though the number of houses completely destroyed stood at 1,300. Local Shivraj Acharya said that beneficiaries of the grant amount were hit hard after the NRA sent the name list containing erroneous names and citizenship numbers. Nabraj Thapa, office assistant at the VDC Office said that names of more than 30 victims had errors and that his office would approach the NRA to rectify this situation. As many as 218 households have filled out complaint forms stating that their personal details were incorrect. Till date, 801 households have signed the agreement for construction of houses. The VDC office has declared that it has sent the agreement of 791 households to the NRA District Office for allocation of the grant amount.
