Kathmandu, September 14 New Diamond Academy defeated Pragatishil Youth Club in straight sets to enter the women’s category quarter-finals of the third NVA National Women’s and Men’s Club Volleyball Championship here at the National Sports Council covered hall on Wednesday. New Diamond thrashed hapless Pragatishil 25-2, 25-11, 25-15 to top Group A. They had defeated Tribhuvan Army Club in the opening encounter on Tuesday. Another quarter-finalist from the three-team group will be decided after the match between TAC and Pragatishil slated on Thursday. Meanwhile, Western Tops HS finished as Group D winners after beating Jawalakhel Youth Club in straight sets of 25-5, 25-13, 25-12. Both the sides were assured of the last eight berths as the group had only two teams. Likewise, Nepal APF Club (group winner) and Kavre Volleyball Association (runner-up) from the Group B along with Nepal Police Club (winner) and Dhorpatan Sports Training Centre (runner-up) from the Group C also secured their berths in the knockout stages. Both the groups have only two teams. In men’s category, Nepal Police Club beat Kavre Volleyball Association in straight sets of 25-10, 25-15, 259 in Group A match. In the Group B match, Nepal APF registered a 25-21, 25-22 victory over Dhorpatan, while another departmental side TAC won their match against Jawalakhel 25-15, 25-19, 2512 in the Group C. The winners and runners-up of both section will receive Rs 150,000 and Rs 70,000 respectively.
