Hetauda, September 15 Minister for Education Dhani Ram Poudel said today that the country’s new statute would be amended soon after Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal returns from his India visit. Speaking at a function organised in Hetauda to declare Makawanpur a fully literate district today, Minister Poudel said that the government was preparing to amend the constitution incorporating the concerns of the Madhesi people. “The constitution will be amended taking the Madhesi forces and the main opposition party CPN-UML into confidence,” he said. Poudel underscored the need of local, provincial, and parliamentary elections for the proper implementation of the constitution. “The controversies relating to the constitution will be settled through consensus among the parties. The present government is giving continuity to the plans, decisions, and projects launched by the outgoing government,” he said. Poudel said that the Ministry of Education was working hard to amend the mistakes of the Education Act- 1971. “The government will take necessary initiatives to settle the issue of ECD and temporary teachers after the data collection process of those teachers is over, which will be by mid-October,” he said. Poudel also said that the government was giving top priority to the reconstruction of school buildings damaged during last year’s devastating earthquake.
