Kathmandu, September 19 The Nepali Congress marked the 19th memorial of veteran democratic leader Ganeshman Singh by organising various nationwide programmes yesterday and today. A special memorial assembly was organised here today by the party, marking the death anniversary of leader Singh who is revered in Nepali politics as an ‘iron man’ for the strong determination that he showed in the country’s politics. Sharing their views about Singh’s personality at most local to national-level programmes, the programmes’ participants applauded Singh’s incomparable dedication and contribution to the democratic movement of 1990 in the country. They stressed the need to follow the path pioneered by leader Singh to take country’s politics to right track. They suggested that Nepali Congress leaders follow the path shown by Singh, who put personal interests aside to keep the party’s pride and dignity intact. Taking part in an interaction organised in the capital today by Ganeshman Singh Foundation, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba called on party leaders and cadres to respect and adopt Singh’s political ideologies. The renowned democratic leader is respected as the ‘Father of Democracy’ in the country and the ‘Supreme Leader of the Nepali Congress’ was born on November 9, 1915. He had passed away on September 18, 1997.
