Kathmandu, September 22 SS Events Pvt Ltd is organising the third Century Bank Corporate Super Sixes cricket tournament here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium next month. The organisers have increased the number of teams to 24 from this edition and they will be divided into eight pools of three each in the first round, informed SS Events CEO Raman Shiwakoti at a press meet today. Top two teams from all the groups will advance to the last 16. The league round matches and pre-quarters will be played on the first two days, while the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final are slated for the last day. “After the successful organisation of the first two editions, we have decided to increase the number of teams from this year,” said Shiwakoti, who is also the Technical Analyst of the national cricket team. “We will give first priority to the 18 teams that took part in the previous edition and we will close the registration after we get 24. Our main objective is to bring in corporate houses into cricket which will ultimately help in the development of the game,” he said. The winning team of the tournament will get trophy and gift hampers apart from exemption of the registration fee for the next edition, while the runner-up team, man of the series, best batsman, bowler and fielder will receive gift hampers. The organisers charge Rs 65,000 per team as the entry fee. The estimated budget of the tournament is Rs 2.5 million. Century Bank is the main sponsor of the tournament and this is the third and final year of the contract. “We started the partnership from Rs 600,000 and Century Bank has made certain increment for this edition,” added Shiwakoti without revealing the amount. Century Bank’s Assistant Manager Subash Sharma said the company was happy with the organisers and the bank was positive in renewing the contract. “We have principally agreed to renew the contract with SS Events and hopefully all the details will be finalised soon,” said Sharma. “The tournament has been able to create corporate culture among the business houses and we are very much positive towards continuing with the agreement,” he added. Chairman of SS Events Sumit Rauniyar and Director Prabin Joshi were also present on the occasion. National team wicketkeeper Subash Khakurel is the brand ambassador the SS Events.
