CIAA indicts Tokha Municipality overseer for kickback

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a charge sheet against an overseer at the Tokha Municipality charging him of taking a bribe from a service seeker, at the Special Court on Sunday. Acting on a tip-off, a special team deployed from the CIAA headquarters Tangal had caught overseer Buddhi Jung Gurung red-handed while he was taking the kickback of Rs 45,000 from a service seeker at his office, the CIAA informed in a statement issued today. Gurung would demand bribe from service seekers to issue House Construction Clearance Certificate, according to the anti-corruption constitutional body. Meanwhile, the CIAA in its charge sheet has sought a maximum punishment as per Section 3(1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002.
